ONE CITY, RUNNING WITH PURPOSE

The Newport News One City Marathon is proud to support our two official race charities, and the efforts they are making in Newport News and beyond. Since the One City Marathon began in 2015 over $48,000 has been donated to our race charities.

THRIVE Peninsula is a faith-based 501c-3 non-profit organization committed to assisting Virginia Peninsula individuals and families through difficult times. Funds given to THRIVE are used to prevent hunger, homelessness, and heat/utility cut-off to our Newport News, Hampton, and Yorktown neighbors in need. THRIVE’s services include 1-on-1 financial education, budget mentorship, rent and utility assistance, resume and job finding services, transportation aid, and local resource connections. The organization also acts a central financial aid clearinghouse for 75 local churches and community groups.

VersAbility Resources has been supporting people with disabilities for over 60 years. VersAbility serves more than 1,600 people with disabilities in early childhood, day support, community living, and four diverse employment programs. Fundraising dollars from the One City Marathon will support VersAbility’s programs that help people with disabilities of all ages live, work, and thrive!
